A 46-year-old man was killed in a Georgia car crash when a pickup truck struck him and another man as they were loading things into the trunk of a cab. According to a news report in The Savannah Now, the fatal car accident occurred in the 2100 block of Shell Road in Savannah. The 46-year-old cab driver and another man were standing behind the cab when a westbound truck struck them. The cab driver died during surgery at a nearby medical center. The nature and extent of the other victim’s injuries are not known. At the time of the report, the pickup truck driver was not charged for the fatal collision.

Whenever a vehicle crashes into the back of a stopped car, there are many questions that must be asked. Why was the driver unable to avoid the collision? Was he or she speeding or driving while distracted? Was the motorist under the influence of alcohol? Was the stopped vehicle in a lane of traffic or did the driver let the vehicle veer onto the shoulder?

It is important to ask these types of questions because negligent drivers can be held accountable for the damages they cause. Georgia drivers who are violating the law or drivers who were negligent at the time may be held financially liable for their actions through civil litigation.

Families of deceased victims may be able to seek compensation by filing a wrongful death claim for damages including medical costs, funeral expenses and lost future income, but also for the intangible losses of losing a person that you loved and whose life means so much more than just the financial costs.

An experienced Atlanta car accident lawyer will be able to fight for the rights of injured victims and their families and help them obtain fair and full compensation for their losses.
