Grant Law Office Chooses 5 Scholarship Finalists

Last year, an overwhelming 5,000+ applicants sent in their information to our Best Foot Forward Scholarship, and as exciting as that was, it also exhausted our office staff. Reading through all those essays was time-consuming, although we read many, many good pieces. So for 2019, we narrowed our focus to our home state of Georgia: only students planning to go to school here (or already enrolled!) were eligible to apply. Failure of Firearm Safety Results in Shooting Death

In Punta Gorda, Florida, a police officer accidentally shot and killed a woman during a civilian training session. The gun used during the session mistakenly had a live round in it. According to a CNN report, the weapon was supposed to have had blank ammunition inside, and the purpose of the drill was a “shoot/don’t shoot” role-play scenario in which simulated lethal force was to be demonstrated.
