Celebrate New Year’s Eve the Right Way This Year in Atlanta

In the great city of Atlanta, there are plenty of ways to greet the New Year. Whether you prefer big holiday bashes or intimate gatherings at a wine-and-dine restaurant, you’re covered. How about doing something a little unconventional, like attending a concert or sledding down a hill? The city’s got that, too.
There is an abundance of New Years events going on for all kinds of people to attend. Question is, where will you be when the clock strikes midnight?
Peach Drop
Want to experience something like the drop of the Big Apple in Times Square, but don’t want to go all the way to New York City? Why not attend the annual Peach Drop in Underground Atlanta at 50 Upper Alabama St SW? Not only will you greet 2014 with countless others and a giant peach that weighs more than 800 pounds, but you will also see spectacular live performances by bands, celebrities, and other notable guests.
Sun Dial Restaurant
Avoid the cold outdoors and the crowds by booking a room at the Westin Peachtree Plaza hotel and dining at Sun Dial Restaurant located inside the same building. The restaurant rotates 360 degrees over an hour, affording you and your loved one or friends a breathtaking view of Atlanta’s skyline as you drink specially picked wines and eat fine cuisine.
Atlanta Symphony Orchestra
Perhaps you want to sit back and listen to great live music in anticipation of the new possibilities and experiences that await you in 2014. The Atlanta Symphony Orchestra at 1280 Peachtree Street NE is sure to host great musical artists on New Year’s Eve. Performances usually start around 8pm. Tickets cost anywhere from $31 up to $69.
Stone Mountain Park
Families can go to Stone Mountain for some early evening merriment in the snow. That’s right, snow – five football fields and 20 tubing lanes full of the stuff. Adventurous souls can brave the 400-foot hill while small children can enjoy much smaller and safer runs like Little Angles. There will also be a bonfire, fireworks, and live entertainment to enjoy.
If none of these events appeal to you, there are plenty of other options to explore. Just check the calendar or event listings on the local newspaper, ask around, or do some Internet research. And when you do go out, be sure to keep safety in mind.
