One Woman Killed in I-85 Rollover Crash Involving a Tractor Trailer
According to a report on myfoxatlanta.com, on the early afternoon of July 8, a crash on the I-85 in Gwinnett County proved fatal for one woman. Two children were also injured in the crash. The father of the two children walked away unscathed.
A chain of unfortunate events resulted in this tragic accident. The four were in an SUV on I-85 close to Pleasant Hill Road when a tractor-trailer clipped the SUV, causing it to collide with a truck. The SUV proceeded to drive up an embankment and flip several times before going over a guardrail and finally landing and coming to a stop on an on-ramp at Steve Reynolds Boulevard.
The woman who was killed was ejected from the passenger seat in the accident. The children were transported to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta at Egleston in an ambulance with their father accompanying them. Cpl. Jake Smith of the Gwinnett County Police Department has stated that the children are expected to survive.
The driver of the tractor trailer was found and interview by police in Cobb County. Authorities stated that the investigation of the accident is still ongoing and no charges have been filed.
A tractor trailer accident can be devastating for its victims. Since a truck carries a tremendous amount of force while in motion, those who are impacted by the force can suffer serious injuries or even death. All truck drivers and trucking companies are expected to abide by safety rules and regulations, yet many choose not to do so. If a truck accident has occurred due to faulty behavior on the part of the trucker or the trucking company, victims can hold them liable for the damages they have sustained.
