Bringing in the New Year Safely

By Grant Law Office on December 21, 2016

We at the Grant Law Office want to wish you a happy and safe New Year. While you deserve to celebrate on New Year’s Eve, we urge you to do so with caution. Statistics show that more than half the traffic fatalities that occur on New Year’s Day involve drunk drivers. Grant Law Office has some tips to help keep you from becoming a statistic.

Plan Ahead

The best way to avoid trouble is to plan ahead. If you’re going out and plan on drinking, make sure you have a safe way to get home. Many larger cities have free taxis and public transportation on New Year’s Eve. If your location doesn’t have free transportation, have a designated driver who is not going to drink. In the age of smart phones, it is easier than ever to get a safe ride home. Put the number of several cab companies on speed dial or install a ride share app like Lyft or Uber.

Hosting a Party

If you’re hosting a party, have guests ensure they have safe transportation home when they RSVP. If your guests are local, consider hiring a car service for the end of the night. You might also want to have an extra bedroom and a few couches available. And don’t forget to have plenty of food and non-alcoholic beverages available.

The attorneys at Atlanta’s Grant Law Office truly hope you never need our services. But rest assured, we’ll be there for you if you ever do. If you’ve been injured by a drunk driver, just call (404) 995-3955 for a free case evaluation and have a Happy New Year.
